What Happened to Porky’s Disco?

A Little History lesson - well more a tale of a little business..

In 1983 Nexus 6 Mobile Discotheques was born - the brainchild of Les Walker and Merv Sheldon - I still remember the first gig at the Chester Green Community Centre and the first “paid one” at the Station hotel in Derby and the great advice that the landlord and his friends gave us - all of it positive and none of it negative, somehow cant imagine that happening now, that first gig was April 1984 and I remember the effect that radio gaga had on the dancefloor - killed it stone dead! Les and Merv split (over musical differences - yes really)

in 1990 I blagged a couple of gigs at bike rallies - I had a Harley at the time - and decided to cash in on this by adopting the name Porky’s Disco - and Porky’s rocking roadshows (for the bigger ones)

So heres the thing, I was never called Porky, I could have been, always been a lardy lad and the name was only ever intended to be used at the bike rallies but... it stuck and within a year Nexus 6 entertainment was nothing but a parent name for the P word...

19 years later... and well over 1200 gigs it was time to move on and myself and a few friends brainstormed a name

we tried loads of them, some, like Simply Special, I liked, and some were impossible to get domain names for so we ended up with the word Magic and Nights and Magical Nights was born.

Porkys and Magical Nights ran together for a while but here in 2012, all that remains of Porky is the domain name and Magical Nights is the future!
